    Rear Hub Bearing Overhaul

Had a bugger of a day, so i thought, get the camera and share it with you all. Started off thinking "I'll fix that clunking noise in the back of the Landy". Thought it was the rear ball joint on top of the diff housing. Had a look, and yep, it was stuffed alright. So, spent an hour replacing that, bugger of a job I tell you. Anyway, made the mistake (the right thing) of checking my bearing adjustment on the rear while I was at it. Holy crap, it was loose as, well I'll leave that quote there. So I pulled off the dust covers, and the grease was the colour of baby depsoits, and as runny as water. Well that's not good I though. So I started stripping it down. The hub nuts were finger tight - Oops. Continue stripping it down, after cleaning everything and inspecting it, had to replace the bearings.
Which meant driving the cups out and putting new ones in. Did that, put it all together will all new bits and pieces. Then did the other side. All up spent around six hours on the vehicle. By the looks of the seals and the bearings, I doubt if they've ever been done before.
Had a look at the splines on my axle, I give them until the end of the year, another $200, not happy. But overall, not too bad for a vehilce with 350k on it. Total cost of todays effort:
    Bearings - $19.00 ea
    Seals - $13.26 ea
    Ball Joint Assy - $84.76

So total cost - $135 - glad I didn't have to pay a mechanic labor.

Anyway, decided to take picks of a step by step rebuild of a 110, see below

sorry but doesn't work for me. I see the title for the album but above it is a thick grey vertical line (is same for other titles). It won't allow me access to view the photos.
