how common is it for pAS flange to slide off Shaft?
A few months back i reported that my D2 2000 V8 PAS pump pulley had moved somewhat up the shaft, the Fan belt then wrapped it's self around the shaft and the pressure forced the flange that the pulley bolts to up the pump shaft.
Today I get a call from a customer seeing if it was ok for a tow truck with customers car could be dropped off to me.
On arrival the belt was noted to have shredded and the pump flanged had moved up the PAS pump shaft.
Since this is the second incident of this happening his is a 2002 V8, is this a commmon thing seems too much of a coincidence, both original factory PAS pumps and 150K - 180K on the clocks.
I suggested to customer we should put a new pump on and i can re press the old flange back on and keep it for a spare. He wants to do some caravaning around OZ and needs reliability. So far I have fitted a new water pump, a ACE pump as old one was shagged, tensioner bearing was loose, idler pulley wasc missing as previous owner removed idler and Ace pulley to bypass the broken ACE pump. The only thing I hadn't replaced for him was the PAS pump, now that's causing bothers.

Actually I found the entire pump shaft on this one can be pushed in and out easily by hand.
