Ok, latest plan for rear Rover9 diffs at LRA is to run the famous True Hi9 with either 31 or 35spline ARB locker.

They are unique in that they are the only high pinion diff to have a 3rd bearing to support the pinion and a thrustblock to resist crownwheel movement.
Update, LRA have confirmed thier first Rover9 Diff and housing is getting jigged, is in production and will be ready in around 8-12 weeks.
Prices at this stage for the Rover9 rear diff (normal pinion), housing, hi tough axles and 3:50 or 4:10 ratio

Yeah looked into those, from memory 20k US front/rear but I could have read it wrong when you look at what you get its not too bad..those with stock height susp/no body lift, cutout flares and 35s would be interesting, im sure stability wouldnt be far off a 2inch body/2susp lifted one with 35s for engineering.Quote:

I will be going the Truhi9 version to get the rear propshaft up, Pegged Crownwheel and also has the 3rd pinion bearing.

Yeah, bit hard to compare road car 9" running standard 9" gear to 4x4 9" conversions running nothing of a standard ford 9 other than the centre housing and maybe the 3rd member.Quote:

For the front its the same for the Rover, cheap as chips for the donor housing, however a Sals front is not that easy, last one i saw in standard form disk to disk was over 2k and I was told you wont see one again anytime soon (others have to import them from the UK, if you can find one), but then again you could use a rear sals in the front however you would have to splice a front and a rear housing and shave it, not cheap.where the rover housing mods are 1k
And im sure you could knock a fair bit of that price if you do it all yourself, but for me, I leave diffs to the experts and I dont have a jig to build a Rover9, and i want to "buy it off the shelf" so that someone is standing behind the product and spares will be available.
When you add up all the individual parts and diff housing work, its good value, and its something you can order replacment parts for from suppliers.To get the Rover9 rear housing is around 1k.
To purchase or get supplied shaved, disk braked, bolt in front and rear sals of equal strength is not guna be cheap infact and considering the above somewhat similar to the 9" Conv. And even with shaving they still hang down and have less clearance above than the 9 and are heavier, add the strengthened axles, CW&P, Diff Lock,flanges and i cant see it being much cheaper at all.
Having said that, this thread is all about what other options are out there similar or better to the Force9 (no longer available)
The upgraded and shaved sals rear option is a good option and is well proven and has to be looked at consodering your diff skills what you have in your truck and parts you have in the shed, however for me, wanting "off the shelf" considering all the clearance and overall strength considerations the rover 9 gains me a tyre size and allows me to run more HP/Torque and allows me to run the truhi9 on of the worlds strongest 4x4 diffs.:D
The only thing that could make the Rover9 conversion better is off the shelf parts to run 35-35spline rear axles.Can anybody help with this?
Currently its 31or 35 at the diff-24 at the wheel.
