DA1119 prop shaft bolt removal tool

Has anyone used the above tool? I hate trying to remove the prop shaft bolts and anything I can do to make it easier is a good thing.

However, I just can't work out how this tool is better than a 9/16 socket on an extension??

I bought myself one, they are a brilliant thing I reckon

Thinner in the wall than a standard socket, also being six sided they don't slip if the socket is only half on the head

The rounded edge rather than the square edge of standard socket stops it from catching as well.

    Do it

Cool. That's all I needed to hear.

Paddocks have a 1/2 price special on them at the moment.

Just need to work out what else to buy to make the freight worthwhile.

Thanks Walker, I've just sent of an enquiry as to the freight charge so I can order one too. I've been eyeing those things for a while.
With one of these, you can torque up your propshaft bolts. peace of mind!!!

Let me know if you get an answer. They are not the quickest when it comes to freight quotes. They normally tell you you have to order first, then they will work out price and if you don't like it you can cancel the order.

I've had an answer, but it's pretty much what you said. They can't quote until it's all wrapped up, but estimated about 10/15 quid for royal mail uninsured/insured.

That's getting close to $40. You can get it on ebay for $36 delivered and at least you have a definite price.

I can't see it any more than this either, I find a 3/8 drive socket and bar would do the same. Am I wrong here?

It all depends on how tight the flange nuts are. It's essentially a "universal" tool for all Land Rovers from Defenders (possibly even Series vehicles?) through to P38s. Especially in cases where the flange nuts are rusted, its 6pt, strong thin-walled design is ideal. Its 1/2"drive is handy for use with a rattle gun... You can get way with a thin walled 3/8"drive 6 pt socket with a "wobbly" extension bar attached but it can be a handful when things are tight...

I have one as well. I use it with a rattle gun.
They do work on S3 propshaft nuts.
    Good addition to the toolbox.
