Thread: True Roller Chain for Rover 2000 4.6 rebuild?

I recently had a 4.6 engine rebuilt and went with a Roll Master timing set. It has vernier adjustment with duplex chain.

They're not off the shelf for the P38 (what is?). I sourced it via Orger Engines in Bayswater. They can get them modified to suit. Hope this helps.

I am rebuiding a 4.6 as well and am the stage of putting the cam in and timing gear - what is a "True Roller" - I googled it but the answers were not clear.

It's the same as a Rollmaster or whatever. I think it may have been a Cloyes name but now it's used over there for anything similar. This may help:

But otherwise, try the mob listed above as they may have the expertise to deal with it. Rollmaster seems like a good brand and I'm using one in a new 3.5.

The issue is that the Serpentine timing cover isn't deep enough to accommodate the width of the dbl roller chain. Due to not having the distributor drive gear on the end of the cam the cover is shallower, hub of the balancer shorter etc etc.

Also none of the summit sets will suit a thor setup as the upper gear isn't cut to suit the cam angle sensor.
