Try....

Ritters
RangeRov
Rangie Spares (LRA)
Rangie Automotive
Toorak Tractor
4x4s (Box Hill)
They will cost anywhere from about $50 - $130 dependng one condition / who you get it through!

Is this to fit to a series???
As i have one on at the moment, same splines but you need to space out the wheel as the thread of the steering coloum is not long enough, so you will be able to rock the steeringwheel!

Thanks Dave !
Yes, I love my original steering wheel, but ...hanging on the wall - I hope to replace it with mentioned above, in my Stage One.
BTW: what is diameter of this soft feel wheel ?

Nice to see you own a stage one as well! 8)

I hated the old steering wheel, ans the black coating was comming of and getting all sticky. It was so hard to get it off your hands!

The diametre of the 2 spoke wheel is approx 16" or 41cm!

it is only about 1" - 2" smaller than the other, but much beefier to grip!

The different diametre didnt affected the difficulty to turn whell when i had my Series 3 SWB too much, but on the stage 1 i have toyota power steering! 8)

Beefier to grip ! - this is most important for me.

Hope to meet U Dave one day somewhere there arround Melbourne !

Toyota power steering ! - It took me 1,5 year to research possibilities, troubles of different way of providing SIII with PAS...
Let me ask:
- which Toyota comes your box from
- what kind of pump U used
- did U cut and welded chassis to fix box or did U simply drilled some holes in it and used bolts and nuts ? (the problem is gripping the chassis with bolts, what is considered to be risky)
- any changes with steering shaft, column, joints...?

OK Powersteering...

First off all, i bought the car with the power steering mod so i was not involed wen it was done, but..

It uses a standard colum AFAIK, and from what i can see there is a custom steering shaft which joins to a 60 sereies toyota power steering box.

I thinkl the pump is standard rangie item.

The Drag link (steering arm) is a custom item to AFAIK, the steering is very light, even with Q78 36' swampers on.

I have a mate who also has a bobbed Series 3 109 with 36' simex, injectd 350 chev, coil conversion who did a PS conversion on his car using-

Volvo car PS box, 60 series modded steering coloum and a few other bits!

I will try to find out more but this is all i know of at this stage!

Adam,

My experience is that the spline on a defender steering shaft was different to the older pre 1990 110 shaft. Consequently, you needed to fit a new shaft in order to replace the hard black early range rover style steering wheel on the 110 with the later defender steering wheel. I have both shafts and could not get the defender steering wheel to fit a 110 shaft. Someone told me an early disco steering wheel fits an early 110 steering shaft.

I would have thought the stage 1 would have had the same steering shaft as the pre 1990 110's. Although DaveS3 sounds like he has done it.
