Never found those auto shop ones to be terribly accurate not saying the LR one is either. Friend of mine has both in his series 2 petrol and usually ends up with a calculator to work out the temp between the two gauges for what it is in the motor. After market reads colder and LR reads hotter. He's done the fiddle like I did for my conversion and still hasn't got a half accurate gauge.

I'd go with the LR gear as if you keep everything LR then when a problem comes up its a matter of replacing with LR.

I'll have a look today what numbers my sender has.

The number on the sender is 560794

I've had to screw in an adapter to the hole on the RHS of the thermostat where the holden one would normally be to reduce down to the landy sender size (about half that of the holden).

If you leave the cap on the radiator whilst you screw in the new sender you shouldn't loose too much coolant.

Hook the gauge wire to the sender and see what happens when you take it for a drive.
