Did SII boxes go up to suffix D?
How do you externally tell a SII and SIII box apart?

I'm asking $1000 the lot, the motor goes. But I'm only getting queries for the O/Drive. If the G/Box were a SIII I'm sure I could sell the lot.

OK - this is avbout the third time I have typed this in as many days...

Series 1 and Series 11 had no suffix letters, and the highest number was 19XXXXXX.

Series IIA numbers are 2XXXXXXX then a suffix, which went as high as H on some parts (chassis/engine?), but maybe only E on gearboxes. So your box is a Series IIA - but if it has a fork-type clutch then it has a SIII bellhousing.

Series 3 numbers were either 3XXXXXXX or 9XXXXXXX and the suffixes started again at A.
