300tdi Disco/RRC Radiator top bung.

The remains of the plastic plug measure up to M20, but 14tpi. Found a 1/2" BSPF is closest, found one in my box of fittings and it fits.:)

But I've ordered a couple of real ones from Ebay. The real ones seal on the face, my temp plug seals on the threads.

Banana because of the dodgy body lift ? , was it a factory TDI Dougal.

Brass BSP piping plug from hardware shop fits......costs very little.

Hi dougal, in the middle of a Softdash Vogue SE 300 Tdi conversion at present, will look factory when done. all the EAS and SRS and ABS are functional, too :0

The UK base 300 Tdi and obviously now the NZ delivered ones are what I was trying to get info on before, thanks for the pics :)

Banana'd when they removd the body lift. I'll have a crack at removing the last offending spacers today.

Excellent timing Justin. I missed out on the sale of a full-spec (EAS, sunroof etc) UK imported one about 5 years ago. But this one appears to be in excellent shape underneath.
I'll likely have a lot of questions as I get into this and happy to help you out with any photos and info too. That's my Vogue SE on the right.

That body lift is a Les Richmond Automotive kit, very expensive but a comprehensive kit. Looks like he removed the easy to get to bits and left the others.

I have just fitted one of those to my 93 disco 200tdi.

Like the others I am very envious as this is my ideal vehicle.

Want to swap for a 96 disco 300tdi :D:D

Aha, thanks for the info. It is indeed a well put together kit. The spacers were originally yellow zinc plated, the one on the transfer hi-lo lever still was. I didn't know what those other brackets were until I dropped the radiator rods and the body sat on them. Bumper relocation brackets apparently.

Bloody heavy though. Probably 4kg in just the radiator supports and bumper brackets. I didn't see the rest.

It's funny how sought-after they are. My ideal vehicle was the one that towed this home. This one was to satisfy curiousity and a deal I couldn't pass up.

Correct about the bumper relocation brackets. The whole kit weighs about 12-14kgs and they are so sought after because they are a pre-engineered kit. Which from my understanding means a quick look at the fitting by the engineer and you get a certificate. They don't have to look at the strength of the materials etc.

If they have used the same temp gauge and sender as in the disco/defender, it is best to replace it. The factory one only has 2 settings: (1) Normal and (2) Overheating with blown head gasket and can jump between the the two in the blink of an eye.

While looking for sender ohms ranges a while back I found a guide on how to linearize the reading. Stock and in good working order the red means 120c.:eek:

But before any of that I need to blast the mud out the radiators, replace the fan and shroud then see how buggered this head actually is.
