My uncle had one and loved it, ran a light from it while camping and used it for jump starts and fridge power when the fridge was out of the car.

This is going back a few years now but I am sure they are still a good unit.

Also have a look at the outback thumper as sold through opposite lock, and some other 4wd shops.

When he charged it, did he use the cars 12 volt system when touring or did he plug it into 240 Volts?

He had it in the rear of his Tojo every time I saw it, always pluged into the 12volt.

Next time I talk to him I will ask him more about it.

Ok had a look at the Bushranger power pack 4000. Nice unit 40 Amp hours 240 volt charer included. $589+$60 for the In car voltage booster for in the car. Pit fall lead acid battery.

Also looked at the Waeco Thumper as BB suggested. 48 Amp Hours, the 240 Volt charger sold seperately as is the in car charger kit. I hate the Waeco do that with everything. I like the battery being a gell battery.
$550 for the Thumper, $100 for the in car kit which needs to be hard wired to the battery. and another $60 for 240V charger.

At the moment im leaning with the Thumper thoughits damn expensive.

I guess this is where being in a club is handy , lil pressure for discount always works.
