2 water pump failure in 9000 kms TD5
Hi all,
I have a 99 Disco TD5 done about 275,000 kms.
I replaced my water pump as preventative maintenance about 9000 klms ago. There was nothing wrong with the old pump I was just unsure of the age. After about 5000 kms the new pump started leaking from the side tell tail hole. I was given a new one under warranty but between 4 and 5oookms later its leaking from the same place again. This is very frustrating.
The engine never gets hot and runs great. I am starting to think either the head gasket needs replacing or ive been really unlucky with water pumps.
The pump ive replaced it with is not genuine but was far from the cheapest available.
Has anyone got any ideas?
Thanks.
Michael.

Bad batch of pumps/seals - happens
Apart from inconvenience, as long as LRA keeps replacing them you will eventually get a goody.

G/Day Michael, Went through the same thing with the TDI300 pumps.
Its cheapo seals and bearings that fail, Ring around all the landy suppliers and ask them if you can get a genuine , or something very close, Don't worry about cost not worth the stress.
Cheers Sumo
