XZLs are shown as tubeless on the michelin site - so if you're comfortable with it, just fit tubeless valve stems to the perentie wheels and run XZLs without tubes. I know that some won't agree (as mentioned above).
Also definitely a problem with delamination running aging steel belted tyres of any make - seems to happen more readily when said tyre is subject to long hot heavily loaded runs, but realistically it is a risk at any time.

Olympic Tyres were made at the West Footscray plant in Melbourne which closed in 2001. All Australian tyre manufacture ceased in 2008.
Whatever tyres were being sold the other day, they weren't Australian Olympics, so perhaps they are being made under the Olympic name overseas, but I've not seen any evidence to that.

The main difference between a tubed tyre and a tubeless tyre is the finish on the inside.
Tyres designed for use with a tube are smoothed before being cured so the friction between the case and the tube is reduced. Tubeless tyre cases don't have this extra step in manufacture and therefore are more abrasive to tubes. The friction can be reduced when using a tube inside a tubeless case by the addition of a dry lubricant such as talc or chalk but it will always be a compromise.
If you have rims that are rivetted such as most SIIa rims, then you have to use tubes.

Frank Beaurepair (a former Olympic athlete) started Olympic Tyres, the son eventually sold the brand to Dunlop Australia which became Olympic Dunlop and eventually Dunlop Pacific before Oz production ceased. There is always a possibility that Beaurepairs continue to source Olympic pattern and branded tyres made under contract from plants in Asia.
It would be interesting to find out the truth.

I have had these tires.
Tyres 4 Wheel Drive Light Truck 750 X 16 X 8 PLY in Greenacre, NSW | eBay
Had them on my hybrid truck. They are ex military and are the spare tires. They are directional as I found out. One way they are deafening. Great of road, plenty of grip. On road well they are a mud tire. So not as good as allterains. But better than the steel treks in the wet. One last point, they are not that old.
Cheers Hall
Indonesian pattern Goodyear HiMiler Xtra grip, good tyre for clearing mud but by far the noisiest tyre I have ever fitted to a vehicle including regular NDT bar tread.
The Xtra Grip were superseded by the Mixhelin XZL in Army service.
My FFR now has Olympic Steeltreks because of the noise.
