Quick update - the problem goes away with another set of recon injectors the indy installed as a test.
Two problems with this:
* I don't want to drop R15k (about 1500 Aus dollar) on this because I simply can't believe all five are shot. I shudder at the thought.
* They were ok before the head work :-( No smoking, no hard starting, no clacking. Ok fuel consumption. This sucks.
Where to from here? How can the head work make my old injectors go bad? Can you test them and only fix the ones that are out of spec?
Hello,
I had the same noise when I put my head back on.... despite having the timing correct to the pins I had to advance it to a fraction to get rid of the noise as you are getting pre-ignition when just over idle 950 rpm it was great, but sitting when warm at tick over it would give the noise you describe. Since then been great. Lossen the bolts and slide it around a couple of degrees.

Hello
Because my engine has done over 200,000 km so a little advance to make up for the stretching of the timing chain that's why it has slots to correct the timing as the engine wears. Could be wrong.....worked for me
