If you search the UK forums the damper springs were failing. Pat

My LT95 has done over 500,00km behind an Isuzu. In that time it has had four problems

120k. The high/low dog is in two parts, each side of the intermediate gear, connected by several riveted pins. These pins broke. This is the only actual failure I have had - made getting in and out of hi/lo almost impossible.

150k. Excess backlash traced to thrust washers in centre diff, replaced washers.

350k. Noisy input bearing. Replaced all bearings and seals

500k. Oil leak traced to warped oil pump cover. lapped cover flat and replaced with new gasket and sealant.

In addition have periodically replaced input and output seals.

I expect I'll be in my eighties when this thing hits those numbers!
At any given point in time, somewhere in the world someone is working on a Land-Rover.

So what's known about the Puma 6 speed? The lower first gear would suit my Tdi just nice.

I have thought about that but 6th would be useless

It would cost more to fit a six speed than what your vehicles worth, also the Tdi wouldn't pull sixth. Pat

My weak R380 has 464,000 on it and I haven't touched it except for changing the oil.I ran ATF in it also which is supposed to be bad. Pat

Is that really what dictates the things we do to our land rovers, particularly some of the older ones these days Pat? If it's worth less than the vehicle?
Maybe not worth it in a gutless on tdi but a chipped Td5 wouldn't baulk at another speed I'm sure...

A 300 tdi has about 7kw. In this scenario I guess a R380 is fine.
