Cool Dyno time in Brisbane 100Tdi, exhaust advice .

Hi guys, I've bought the Mad Man VNT turbo kit for my 300Tdi, it already has a APT Fab intercooler and some tuning done on the fuel pump. I'll be fitting the VNT turbo in June and want to put the car on the dyno to see the result.
Can you share with me any recent dyno experiences, where did you go and how much, how long did it take? I live on the south side of Brissy.
I want to drive on , do the test and drive off, I'm not really expecting any diagnosis or tuning advice, unless I know the guy has good TDi expertise.
I'm also looking for exhaust advice , my idea is to remove the standard first muffler ( 19 years old), and fit a new pipe 2.5" from the turbo to a new muffler, ( a big one ) that has good flow. From there to the tail pipe all 2.5" no muffler. I'd like to have good flow but I figure a Tdi is noisy enough already inside the cabin, so I'd rather not make it too much noisier. I think there's plenty of experience with this type of mod in the club. thanks if you can give some advice

With the exhaust remove the middle muffler and keep the rear as it will reduce the drone in the cabin...
    That's all I can add

I have had mine on a dyno twice.......I wouldn't go back the the guys in sandgate.

If you are paying for a dyno than it makes sense to make adjustment at the time as they should be monitoring your exhaust gases that way you should get the best out of the car tune wise.......

I have just the standard pipe right the way through no mufflers....if I had my time over I would have left the resonator in place.

Second dyno was done near woolangabba by a guy I used to work with.......he just has a single axle dyno and knows his way around a diesel.....you just have to remove the front propshaft.

Nope......both places just ran with the rear diff

It is a little scary when they get to 4th and start to load her up........I guess it no different than towing the trailer at 90 up a long hill

If you are concerned with drone, replace the middle muffler with a straight though unit instead of just pipe. (The standard mufflers look straight through with the pipe alignment, but are not, they do have baffle plates). You get the benefits of a straight pipe with some noise control. The one I used is a round 2.5" muffler, same as original length, which slips over the standard pipe and can be welded in place. Also left the rear resonator in place as its not causing any issues. I did notice that with the muffler swap the turbo (standard) does spool quicker with lower EGT's, so worth doing, especially with all the other things you are bolting on and have fitted already.

    Mufflers & Dyno time

Thanks guys, I appreciate your advice, I'm interested in keeping the internal noise down, It make sit easier to talk to people in the car, I'm deaf in my left ear so excess noise makes it difficult to hear conversation while driving the car. ( can be handy if Madam is on a crusade) If I'm in the passenger seat it's not too bad. I'll fit a straight a through muffler for the first one and leave the tail pipe in. My EGTs have been ok I monitor them , mostly I rarey go above 550 deg C . I'm following the tuning advice that's been circulation around the internet for a number of years. I just do a small adjustment once in while and keep adjusting the power up. The VNTurbo will be a big step change. I think a big adjustment will be needed to get the most out of the new VN turbo. cheers simmo

Keen to hear what the outcome is and what sort of performance changes u get....

What sort of $$ is it for the VN Turbo setup, etc?
