I also have 2 All Rounders, one of which I use for the main start battery in the P38. Am weighed down by other things at the moment and so have not even had the opportunity to start the beast in more than 5 weeks. What I did do however was to fit a cable connected to an Anderson plug (50amp) to each of the main battery terminals. I then simply top up the battery charge every week to 10 days with a 7 stage charger...same with the spare which gets topped up about once every two months...

I have one in my Defender mainly because of thw radio equipment.

You raise a good point! I chose to go for a pair of all-rounders so I can rotate them every 6 months. My Rangie sits for weeks at a time then gets a good run and straight back in the shed for a few weeks so the idea of a dual purpose battery worked for me.

I wouldn't mind getting a dedicated deep cycle, but I can't complain, the all-rounders are awesome! I'm getting solar panels soon too, so it won't matter as much!

    Cheers

Hi Keithy and Howard, allrounders are actually a full on deep cycle battery.

You can safely cycle them down to 20% SoC ( 11.58v ) on a regular basis and not harm them.

That’s the safe limit for most dedicated deep cycle batteries.

The big difference with allrounders is that can also be used as a dedicated cranking battery.

Not bad for such a well priced battery.

Yes indeed! I got both of mine for $180 each. Liked them so much I even put one in our Isuzu Dmax - same price too! So far they've done 2yrs service, bar one that my Ark Powerpack destroyed (charger **** itself).

You can get bigger ones too, I'm only using the 760cca/105ah one.
