Keep blowing diff. Please help.

My thoughts are that one did should be fine too. They aren't small diffs.

The oil at the bottom of that picture looks to me like a planetary gear pin too, which is why I asked about it.

More and more I'm seeing manual boxes destroying diffs (notably the carrier holes that locate the planet shaft elongate and drop the pin or destroy the gears), but auto boxes looking after the diffs very well indeed.

What happened to you isn't normal, and by the look of your car you don't abuse it. But are there 4 pinion carriers on the d2s at all? I'd be looking for these. .. or a locker.
N.b. p38 carriers dont fit d2s.

Not so in the case. Traction Control should kick in.

Only in a cross axle situation. With the cdl in if both front wheel loose traction and the rear two don't for example.

on some variants locking the CDL disables the TC.

I was also covering the less eletronically enhanced versions that dont have it at all. (in case someone else reads up on this in the future)

Well Dave, ( didge36) it was worth a go, basically no more insite that what we discussed on the phone. I'm still pretty sure it comes back to the front diff having issues, as it should drive on the front with the cdl engaged and it doesn't. And there fore loading the rear, which being second hand could've been ready to die before being installed and just could cope being the only drive..try to find the others on here from Kal, I.e BMKal, and I'm sure they would know more than your mechanic...good luck Gary

Get your front axle sorted, you should be able to drive on your front only if need be. You will find it drives a lot better on both diffs.

Make sure you get replacement parts that are in good condition, plenty of after market parts that are stronger and at good price. Look on the Ashcroft site.

I've put upwards of 1600km on the rear diff alone, I take it easy (ish, I am 20...) and it's still smooth and silent :)
That was entirely blacktop though.
You've got other issues if you're blowing diffs like that, as previously mentioned I wouldn't want to fit a 2nd hand diff unless I was sure of it's quality, so in reality I wouldn't.
Fit a pair of TruTracks or ATBs and be done with it.
