What happens with the vacuum lockers if the motor is stalled ?

Just have this mental picture of dwadling down a slope with the thing in lock. The motor stalls, for example in a diesel or petrol due to the angle so sucks air up into the fueling and next second you have no control as you've lost lock. Some sort of reserve servo or something like assisted brakes do ?

Provided there's no leak in the system, once the vac has activated the lock, no further vac is required until they are unlocked and need locking again. In any case, Maxidrives come with a vacuum storage tank, enough stored vac for a few lock/unlock cycles.

I have a dive bottle for that . I find th ARB compressor useless for pumping up tyres. Takes ages. With my bottle it takes seconds and will pump up 14 set of 35" Simex. So plenty of air . And as a bonus will run air tools

Do a search on the Rover forum at Outer Limits. This q comes up regularly. Including JacMac's legendary lack of customer liason, unlike Mal Storey, who is always helpful on the phone.

Maxis don't break and they don't give trouble. End of story.

FWIW, I've got maxis F&R. Therey are expensive because almost everything is upgraded, except the CW&P. Axles, 4 pin carriers, end caps etc. The most expensive bit is the CVs.

Air lockers are just lockers. You'll break standard axles & CVs sooner or later.

Mal made Maxis vacuum operated coz thats was the most reliable.

The blue light on airlockers is wired to the switch. It just tells you that you've flicked a switch. The maxi blue light is linked to the mechanism. Just like the CDL light, it might be a few seconds before it goes on or off, coz of load & windup.

A lot of people do mix & match, but I wouldn't go air locker just coz of the compressor. There are better compressors on the market.

Diff locks:

best is Jacmac hipoid set up also most expensive.
next is jacmac air or vacume operated.
next maxidrive.

last is arb.

the JM hipoid you get a full hipoid diff as against the rover centre bevel set up.
