Alloy wing protectors for Defender

Just got a set, about to start drilling and riveting. Looks dead simple -- is it? Once fitted, are they actually strong enough to stand on?

my checker plate is only 1mm thick so it aint any good for standing on. (found out the hard way) i thing you will need bout 2.5 to hold upto 70kg. oh but they are good for sitting on and for a table. as for installing them, well i didnt do it but it does look simple.

Without realising it I bought a set from the stealer. Poisionously exxy compared to Graeme Cooper etc. But there ya go. Maybe it's in the thickness ... plate not me, but these you can definitely stand on ... all wafer thin 100kg of moi.

Fitted them myself. Drilling holes is certainly an exercise in character building. But not really difficult.

    Cheers and good luck.

8O You guys buy already made stuff ?

Be cheaper making them yourself out of scrap stuff from a metal yard.

Then again "someone" probably has a fair bit left over from mods to his Disco rear door that he could give you out of kindness

Just fitted the passenger side. Started on the driver's side, then realised a 45mm hole needs to be cut to accomodate the stereo system aerial. I don't have any means of neatly doing that, so have to take it to a friend instead.

Seems strong enough to stand on, which is good. I have the ones that curve slightly over the front towards the headlights.

We fit them regularly to Army 110's. We start with a 2.5mm checker plate in an 8x4 sheet and cut out as many as you like. They are designed to use as tread plates for climbing over the guards, bonnet, and roof.
