Defender side steps? Rock sliders?
Hey guys,
Couple of questions here, anybody got an idea what the standard side steps on a Defender Extreme are worth? I rang a dealer and they quoted me ... wait for it .... $1379 per side 8O 8O I **** you not!!!
The steps in question:

I'm trying to establish a reasonable sell price as I would like to replace mine with rock sliders. Which takes me to my next question:
I'm looking for rock sliders that will double up as side steps. Any suggestions?
I liked the sliders on the white defender profiled in the 4x4 monthly #72 and #73. However, Graeme Cooper informed me they were a custom job and because of the high cost, they are not about to make anymore.
TIA,
Henry.

if you or someone you know can weld..... i'm in the process of making my own, using 75 x 50 x 6 mm rhs for the main body and 33mm heavy wall tube to come out from the sides to act as nerf/step, as my tray is wider than the body it should help "push" the truck away without catching the tray.

greame coopers told me that unless they had an order of ten or more at
one time they were not worth producing. the ones in the mag were a one of which apparently cost them $2500.
i think he has been asked about 20 times for them by now.
he had the answer ready as if he'd been asked 50 times
i'll be going to penrith for mine soon

Thanks gents, looks like KLR is the go. I'm hoping to sell the existing side steps .. would $500 be unreasonable? :?:
