My foot cops a drop or two in heavy rain but the problem is more acute in the passenger side. The water seems to come out of the vent right at the base below the aircon. I was guessing it came from the vent intake on the passenger side wing and was working its way through. Maybe I am wrong and it is a leaky window. I have only found evidence in that vent grill and the puddle itself. Door seals, window seals everywhere "looked" bone dry.
I never followed it up because I asked another Defender owner who said "Don't try and find the source for down that path lies madness. They leaked in '48 and they leak in '98"
so what does that mean?
its a genuine factory fitted water leak?????????
That is pretty much what I am led to believe. FIle it under "quirk". It's called "water cooled footwell"Quote:

Its also the reason your firewall/foot well's will rust out. If someone elses Def can be fixed, so can your's.
Good luck with it.
Bruce.
Invest in silicone
This is one of those other 'quirks' that I love about Defenders. My old 130 use to do it, but I could excuse that because of its age. I use to take it as a sign of affection
But when it comes to a car under warranty I would be taking it back to LR and demanding they fix it...keep going back until you get satisfaction.
All jokes aside, at the end of the day it is $45,000 motor car and LR should fix it.
I agree with Noddy ... you should make a royal pain of yourself at the dealer until they sort it out. The service manager will get so tired of you he will climb all over the workshop guys to get it sorted.
Funny thing is - mine doesn't do it. Water pours on to my right foot when I open the door but it seems to be water tight when the door is closed!
(Ergo it must be fixable) 8)

Climbing through the window would solve that problem. Or don't open your door whilst snorkelling.
