Just a heads up on this product guys.
I went to fit it to my 2002 Xtreme 110 and the gearstick was hitting the aircon before I could select first.
So I ground off the weld, removed their gearstick and fitted my original gearstick to the modified selector ball.
I have yet to fit it but all should be ok.
I will review it once I have driven the vehicle.
And I sent them a note so they are aware of the issue.

I am worried about this also. I dont have AC anymore but I have the mud dash and the current stick sits fairly close to the unit.Quote:

Installed the slick shift today.
When it comes to installation its fairly simple if a little frustrating but that's a symptom of the vehicle and not the product. The only areas that gave me problems were the rubber grommet over the stick, the stick height & the bias springs.
After the simple installation process (there is a video on youtube) as expected and noted by Harro the stick clashed with the mud console I have installed. I nipped the weld off, removed 1.5 inches of shaft and ran a 1/2 inch band around the new bottom to help it slip back into the base. I ran a bead from the MIG around the base at the highest setting to ensure good penetration so it sticks in the long run - not something you want to fail on the tracks... I found the amount of weld from the supplier a tad wanting when considering the long run but combining the fact I have a welder and the minimal weld it was actually handy in this case.
Once that was out of the way, the bias springs need to be adjusted as the ball does sit slightly differently to the factory unit. I ended up dropping each screw 3 full revolutions or so.
Once all setup and in though it gives the gearbox a really nice boost in function - its easier to find 2nd to 3rd & 4th to 5th and quicker to shift. The downside for me is that my box is a bit notchy and the syncros so it makes downshifts and working the syncros a bit of a thing to master. It takes a marginal more amount of energy to shift as well, I am guessing from the changed leverage point.
Overall, for a healthy gearbox its a brilliant addition and a pretty nifty idea. It could be made better by taking into account that not all Defenders are agricultural and that they do come with air con & dash consoles!
They have now modified the selector ball to fit your own gearstick.
(which was my suggestion:angel:)
Anyway it now shouldn't clash with the aircon so it is a straight swap with no mods needed:D.
One of the best mods I have done, feels great like the newer 6 speed shifting.

Same, fitted mine on the weekend, big improvement, put I slight bend in the gear stick to move back from the aircon on the Td5. Highly recommended
