He bought it sight unseen except for my own eyes, he was 4 hours north of here(4hours north at normal speed, took me 7 hours to get it there)

After much wailing and gnashing of teeth a solution was found.
The lesson as I'm sure you would agree is to find some one with the experience and time to advise and who is prepared to talk about the options to suit the vehicle and the preferred use. The compromise between ride comfort and performance.
You had a positive experience with Lovell's in this regard, I recollect.
My experience with Lovells has been a good one, though that said there was a bit of development in this and it wasn't a regular setup. I told them quite specifically what rates I wanted, the installed lengths, variable rates and points of transition etc. They pulled the Disco suspension down also and measured everything for base manufacture specs. Not the way most people would like to do it.
I've heard of the D2's being setup with the noseup by LR Specialists before, and I tend to think that is because the perch heights on the D2 are different to those that have been set on the RR/D1/Def, and so the imbalance. I find it interesting that they find the shocks difficult also, and I think this may also be a problem that stems back from Bilstein which a lot of the specialists use (as do I now), as that particular shock has no bumpstops and is really a little to short for lifted Disco2's off the shelf.
There are a lot of people using the OME and Tough Dog lifts with pretty good results. These include longer shocks without the bumpstop, brake/ABS line extensions, cross members etc.
I guess that a "tried and true" and "off the shelf" solution is the ideal. That exists in heaven.
At whose cost do we experiment?
When my D1 was lifted you couldn't wipe the installers smile off his face. On mine he had finally found a solution.
I went in and asked for a 2" lift with a few caveats added.
I guess I was just lucky and happy apart from the crap lower rear mount washers that were supplied with the Bilsteins.
I'm not sure what you are trying to say here.
Do you mean that there are no off the rack kits that are any good and they are all just experiments?
