TD5 just stops running

no sign prior to it stopping no cough no fart, rolled to the side of the road, ran the purge cycle once no go, ran the cycle a second time engine starts with accelerator pumping go about 2km and stops running again, lucky i was only 6 or 7 km from home but it took three goes, fuel pump does seam louder than i remember.

I didn't think to ask before.
Did your dash light up everything when the engine stopped.

If so you could just have a crook earth and the voltage dropped under the 11.4 that the ECU considers the minimum it will get out of bed for.

Yeah makes a lot of difference, however still could be any of the suggestions made and/or electrical failure, oil in loom. Likely fuel pump though if like that.
Not nice at 100kmph.

Just a thought. Trog did a trip to the west, had a similar problem, was told it was the pump. Replaced 2 pumps [ I think], came back to Brisbane, found out it was , I believe, the air bleed valve, located in the bleed line connection on the fuel filter. If you have a RAVE DVD, you will be able to see what that is. Basically, there is a restrictor & a membrane, the restrictor has a hole in the centre, to allow air & fuel to pass thru. When the membrane gets wet, it expands, & the fuel doesn't pass thru, that is normal operation. Before you spend big bickies on a pump, check bleed valve. Bob

One other suggestion, pull the drivers seat and look for the relays under there. Pull them and look for melted connections. I've had an intermittent fuel pump caused by a slightly melted or damaged connector under the seat.
