fuel pump for Series III

hi all

any suggestions for an alternative fuel pump in an ex army series III 2.6 litre petrol beast from 1978.
some one once told me the pump from a mazda or something would go straight in.

i priced an original at over $215 (avail in mid january) which stings a bit, but more importantly its my only transport and i need something asap (Christmas shopping and all that).

thanks

Doesn't the series 3 army vehicles already have an electric fuel pump??? if not, mine does, and although mine is of questionable health, it works ok. you can basically fit whatever you like, but you should be able to get one for about $50.

yep it is an original electric pump.
no lage spare parts places round here (Eden NSW) and the small places are only carrying modern in-tank pumps in stock so i can't see before i buy
anyway there is a small wrecking yard i can try.

i'll post the result

Hey another newie !!!

Surely a VK commodore electric pump would be available at one of the auto shop(s) as they are external and fairly common. It should adequately serve the 2.6L Rover motor.

Maybe call Autobarn/mycar, super¢heap and get one sent from somewhere else. I had a set of tie rod ends for the Mazda sent from Brisbane to Rowena after a three phone calls as neither Narrabri or Moree had any in stock. I had the parts 2 days later. Hey HS! You at Rowena? Damn it's a small world, i used to work on Iffley Station for years, used to hit Rowy every friday night til the pub lost it's license and i had to go to Colly.

That was my home "sniffley" then I opted for a sea change. Campfire reminisce that would be, though I have been meaning to get back to the old haunt. I suppose the other LR nut is still on the station ?

The pub lost it's licence ??? 8O That's a shame, that was a great little spot, even if the pool room was a little small. I never mastered the 2" pool cue but it did stop the windows getting broken. They used to cook a great steak though and as much vegies as you could eat.

The world gets smaller and smaller! When were you on Iffley? It's been quite a while for me, left there back in '96 (when Colly Farms still owned it), after that i came out here to the mines. You're not refering to Greg the workshop boss who had the swb 2a with the 253 fitted? That was a wild rig 8O He had to weld up the diffs i think but other than that it was pretty bloody tough.
Got many good memories of that pub, forgot about the pool table though that was a bit of a challenge and the tucker was great. For a while there we had a real bastard of a cook so we used to take every opportunity to go to Rowy and get some decent tucker

Bit before my time. You were probably there when Gary Coulton was manager. Brad was the farm manager when I was there. I thought crook food only existed in Uni but same reason we'd usually end up at the pub most nights.

No the guy was Sheldon, had a row of about 15 ex-army series rovers in the near the main workshop with the list growing everytime he came back from "The Ridge". John his dad drove a 'fender. Last time I saw Shelton was preparing a full rebuild of a series IIA LWB, the ones with the jerry holders behind the doors. Would love to see it now.

Thanks for the prompting....Think I'll be dawdling hellspawn out there in mid Jan now...just to make sure it's still there... 8)
