turning a ZF box from 4wd to 2wd

sacrafice an lt230 to make the rear trans mount, anchor the propshaft on the diff end, turf the slip hoi t out of the prop shaft and then lathe the majority of the input gear off to leave you with a spacer for the box to seal up onto and graft a slip yolk with the same spline count as the output spud shaft from the box onto the prop shaft.

Done.

you have a few options,

1) strip a range rover classic or Disco 1 V8 zf 4HP22 and fit the BMW / JAG output shaft (from a hydraulic 2wheel drive box) and rear housing and flange etc, note this housing won't have a speedo drive gear

2) find a bmw/jag 2 wd hydraulic 4HP22 and fit the RR V8 bell housing and converter

note the V8 bell will can't the box over by about 15 deg so you will have to mod the 4 WD sump to get ground clearance, ir trim off the lower part, this will be clear when you look at one,

I have aquired a 4HP22 from a beemer with tailshaft for $50 , pick it up this weekend , so the 4wd box wont be used now , i'll either sell it or gearbox someones doorstep with it.

Should just leave the 4 cyl BMW engine bolted up to it...

So it seems the box i had lined up fell through , looking at another beemer box. Does anyone know if the torque converters from the beemers will bolt into the V8 flexplate?
