Short shock !

Just today I replaced my 2a 109 (Ex aremy workshop), two front springs and new shocks, and came across a problem, and I would like to know who am I going to complain to.
Everything went back as normal except when I went to put the new shocks on and they are to short, yep to short, I had a better look and surprise, surprise after looking at the book, according to them the 2a 109 should have 11 leaves up front but my new ones have 9, looked up another book and they said 9 ????????? so is this my problem I'm sure when I ordered the springs I did mention what Landrover I had, but I wonder if the year models make a differance, I told them it was a 1967, well I was wrong it's a 1964.......swearing and cursing now because I have to pull everything apart again, but will hold off till I get an idea what is wrong.
My big problem also is, I bought the springs about 4 months ago so I don't think they will take them back.
The shocks are ok as they are marked to go on a 2a 109.

I think you will find the problem lies in the shocky length,the Ex Army landies have longer shackles and spring mounts,the stock shockies wont fit(too short).
11 or 9 leaves are normal,the 9 leaf being heavier duty(thicker material).
Some of the Ex Army series owners here will probably know where to get the longer army type shockies.

Andrew's right, it'd be the shockies.

If you have the receipt, even if you don't as on the shockie pack should be a shop sale price sticker which can be used to verify you bought the parts from them, I'd be going back to the person you bought them from and explaining the situation. Surely they will see that the shockies haven't been used as there will be no stone chips and other road damage. On that most normal salespeople exchange the parts no questions......unless you've damaged them in fitting when they remain yours and need to buy the correct set at further cost.

I've done it a few times, bought something for a vehicle on the faith of the salespersons ability to hand me the right part, get home and it doesn't fit. Taken it back and exchanged it over without penalty. Be nice to always get the right part but part numbers change so I'm a bit easy on salespeople, we all make mistakes.

If the salesperson gets nasty about the whole thing, take your money and shop somewhere else in future where you do get looked after. [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif[/img]

I cant help you with the suspension, but if you go back to the place you bought them and explain the situation, most places will be more than happy, if they arent, do as hellspawn said and take youre hard earned cash to someone who wants it. Try it, the least they can do is say no, you dont know till you try. Matt
