a couple more pics. Oil residue ontop of oil filter housing. Filter is not leaking as far as I can tell? This was washed last week....other pic is showing the water pump/radiator hose rubbing on the power steering resiviour.

G'day mate. Not sure of part number for the radiator hose but I recently replaced all my hoses (a set I bought on eBay from a local 4wd place) and that hose was the only one I had to use cable ties and force it to sit in a good spot. It looked certain to rub if not secured. That's my advice for the next hose at least... Cheers.

    slippery oil

pictures don't show much oil there, I guess the problem could be that the oil is not yet dirty enough to be seen easily.

On another note, I have found a pin hole leak in the main water pump/radiator hose . This is the multi ended/sized hose. It is rubbing against the power steering resiviour.....anyone know the part# for this hose?
ESR3296 - Lower Radiator Hose Wrong number, try ESR 3121

Place the wading plug in the flywheel housing and the timing case then check them for any quantity of oil after 1000 Klm's.

If that check doesn't show anything, then all that is left is the oil is getting past the rings or the valve guides.

If there was any quantity of oil leaking from a gasket, then you would be finding some spots on the back of the body.

thanks mate, yep, definitely not going to just set it up the same. It actually has a nice shape to it and no kinks, so I was thinking getting some rubber or slightly bigger rubber hose and zip tying it arround that point if pulling out the way wont work.

sorry where I grabbed the P/No from is wrong

sorry where I grabbed the P/No from is wrong. try ESR 3121 for hose-radiator bottom coolant

That ESR3121 number is still ok but has been superceded by PCH119060

    Not a happy camper!

Well I took another pic of the bottom hose that conects to the IC. Have a look and tell me what you think?

I cleaned and put it back together. I zip tied the bottom radiator hose a bit more out the way. Will be keeping a close eye on that and ordering a new one ASAP.

And now I have found a turbo air leak. I had sprayed some degreaser about and when I started it to look for oil spray/mist and coolant leak, I noticed bubbles coming from the exhasut manifold AND around the perimeter of the cast iron turbine housing....

    check this video I made:

what are peoples thoughts on this

    strip down and reseal.

or run it hard on overfuel and let it soot up.

for the intercooler hose... i'd expect that from my old tdi's at 1000Km no a freshly overhauled engine. Is your crank case filter working or has it been stripped internally?

Hang in there - it will pass. Usually after replacing a truck-load of parts. But you'll get there.
