8O Gee you were lucky, that you didn't snap the head off the bolt or bend the handle. I've done both a few times but normally if I go past 3ft extension..... bit too much leverage.
Though aren't the super¢heap ones made of soft steel ? Maybe that's why they don't come with the extensions as they'd break ???

Yep, are for LR Owners except all those sets at Super¢heap are sold incomplete. They should come with 3ft handle extension for tightening nuts back up. Some parts have quite crazy torque settings.
to undo the crankshaft pulley you fit the socket and breaker bar then kick over the engine with the breaker bar against the chassis rail. let the starter motor do all the work.

I thought of that, but decided not too in fear of something flying off and ripping the EXPENSIVE radiator. I heard it works though.

Thanks all, I want to get a socket, so I'll go down to the tool shop today at lunch. Can I just get a normal 52mm (2 1/16) socket, I don't need one of those long sockets do I ?Quote:

you gotta make sure your breaker bar clears the pulleys lip with the socket sitting flush on the nut for the crankshaft pulley.
for the hub nut it shouldnt matter as the nut sticks out.
You do realize that the only tight bit is the lock nut , which is held in place by a lock plate.
There is very little force involved once you bend the tab on the lock plate flat.. The inner nut is only finger tight.
A tube spanner is more than adequate for this job.

we had a two foot shifter we used for the hub nuts
and a 3/4 drive (or it might have been 1 inch drive) socket and breaker bar for the crankshaft pulley. we used to use the starter motor to crack the nut loose then all else was done by hand.
another method of doing or undoing the hub nuts was with a hammer and chisel ((yes..greek style)yes i am greek!) if you know what you are doing you dont damage anything.
tip....never turn an engine backwards...especially an older one.
it can damage the timing chain tensioners and cause a lot more work down the track.
Just picked up 4x Discs and new brake pads for them.
Any tricks or tips when putting on the new disc's :?:
