It was registered with a full hardtop and I always wondered what the cops would say about driving it roofless but never found out ( thankfully ).

Looks like Fraser, Eli creek maybe. Anyway where were your seat belt mounts when you had the roof off??
thanks

I really like the missus' 90 Ali. I hope you don't have any trouble with Qld Transport, but I the first thing I can see that you will get done on is the side exit exhaust. Still, if that's the worst of it, you're laughing!

Howdy Crazie, I think i saw that rover on ebay a little while back? Hope you got a good deal! I'm a bit confused by this thread actually as i have a series 3 ex-military gs which is getting close to registration, it was built in 1980 and has lap type seat belts and the usual canvas canopy. Take the canvas off and it's topless. To the best of my knowledge i shouldn't have trouble registering it in NSW. It also has a side exiting exhaust as standard. Your vehicle being older should be able to be registered with the lap belts and open top too, i'd say.
Best way to find out for sure is consult your local registery.
Good luck with the build, this site is a very resource for info and advice.

G'day Crazie
It looks like a late 2a I.E. Key Start Ign,Cable wipers operated by a flick switch, also the same for lights, a bent-upwards handbrake, This vehicle would be Negative Earth Electrics, and be on a Chassis with a Suffix "D" I.E. 253xxxxxD built between 1967 and 1970 as later vehicles had their H/lights in the guards, I would suggest that you fit a Ute top, these can be bought Ex-wreckers it consists of top and rear panel, AND the Fittings to fix it to the body,(2 bolt-type fittings) with a couple of doortops it would look a real nice unit. 8)
The large bolt/nut on the axle, like in the pic, is a Jac-Mac, Antaine (MilSpec First Aid) has one on his ex-army 2a FFT.
 In regards to the Blue 90 the exhaust pipe needs to exit to the rear or preferably to the drivers side.
Cheers

I think I got an awesome deal, hope so anyway. Sorry for the confussion. The seats are not in the land rover and I know it has a cabin that can be put on, but I would rather not and have it as a soft top type of cover. Just checking to see if this was possible.
thanks Crazie

G'day Rocket
I have all of the parts to fit the ute top, just like it without one. I will buit it to do either I think. Sorry I dont understand the "Jac-Mac", what is that??
thank you
Cheers
Hi Crazie - yep Eli creek :-)
I had inertia reel belts, and when roofless, the belt simply ran over your shoulder and down to the reel. Not the best but better than nothing
As I said, I'm glad the cops never asked, and I never had a prang!
Bruce.
