Removing bell housing from an LT95
I am trying to get the bell housing off my LT95 and the two large bolts just won't undo. I turned my compressor up to 125 psi and had a 1/2" rattle gun going flat out on them and they just won't budge. I sprayed them with some wd40 and left them for a while to see if that helps but otherwise I might have to go and hire a 1" drive rattle gun (no one argues with those bad boys).
Any tips. I tried a breaker bar too with aout 1m of leverage with no success.

Got me? I would have thought the 1m breaker bar would ave done the trick, turnin it the right way? Lefty lucy, Righty tighty.
It's probably fused together, in which case you'll probably end up spapen the head of the bolt off. If your givin it a fair hoof with a 1m breaker bar and it dosn't budge don't hold your breath on the 1" rattle gun. Save your money and get a longer breaker bar, I've got one in the workshop thats almost 2m long an have cracked bolts that have been done up to 450Nm.

When ever time I have trouble with bolts like this I use heat. I'm assuming you can't in this situation.

Yeah heat would be good but I don't have an oxy at home.
When I bought the car all the wheel nuts were on so tight that we could not get them off with breaker bar about 1.5 m long with a mate bouncing on the other end (fat bastard too). We soaked them all with wd40 a couple of time and did them again the next day. Still none came undone so we took it to a mate's crane workshop and used an inch drive. It was like a knife through butter and didn't damage any threads.
Apart from that it has been pretty good to work on, until now obviously. It might pay to hire an oxy instead of a 1" drive.

shifting bolts
It might be that it is lock tite 'd in or as others said the reaction between aluminium and steel locking it up...breaking the grip could be the answer. In your case, use a big drift, and a big hammer, and belt the head of the bolt hard a few times to loosen it up. Then try the bar ( or rattle gun). Now I didn't realise this until recently, when I had to dissasemble an engine, and the guys at LVS showed me that trick. Actually worked. You don't have to slaughter the bolt, but a few good whacks should do the job.

thats one of the things a rattle gun does.
i would just be using a longer extension on the breaker bar and some caution.

Yep tried swearing but I'll give it another go. It's pretty tight so I may need the 'c' word to get it moving. Maybe I need to kick the front tyre again, than can help too.
I have not had a chance to have another go at it because the vehicle is parked under my house directly below where my wife, who just had her wisdom teeth removed, is resting.
Things will not go well for any man who dare hang of a rattle gun below her for 10 minutes at the moment. Hoping to have a window of opportunity this afternoon.
