Are you thinking about doing this DW? I want to lift my disco, but i only want about 4" of lift, just to stop the gaurds hitting on the wheels. Suspension lingo is like another language to me. Let me know how it all goes. Matt
This info came from Ridepro.
I have lifted my Series 1 Disco 7" at the rear and 5" at the front. Rides well, great articulation, even looks magic. I have fitted GQ Patrol shocks on the rear with a Pin to eye adapter. On the front I fitted 80 series with no modifications. If you have 2" or less in the spring lift the front shock tower will need a small spacer between the studs (4) and the tower. Also you willl need to weld a flat plate on the top of the tower and mount the shock to this plate. The open length of the shock (Ridepro) is 359mm closed and 611mm fully open. The rear GQ shocks (Ridepro) measure 393mm closed and 648mm fully open. There is also the height of the Pin to eye adapter to consider.
The shocks are $ 125 each with a full 2 year warranty. I have removed the rear sway bar and the body roll of the Disco is still pretty good. At present the front is still connected but I will also be removing it for better articulation. I currently run 265/75R16 tyres and have a set of 32/10.5R15 Mongrels on Rangie rims for off road use. I need to trim the guards a bit as at full articulation I belting the hell out of the rear guards. If you're interested in the springs I have Dobinsons on the rear (Just over 0.5 meter high no load) on the rear and Procomp 3" Range Rover rear springs on the front. Last week I did a Disco with the same rears but slightly higher fronts. It was a Series two so I had to modify 40 series front shocks for the front as the Series 2 has a flat fin (ala Jeep) at the bottom and an eye at the top. Rancho shocks are great for Jeeps and other light 4WDs but in my experience they do not last on heavy vehicles such as Patrols and Cruisers. The Disco is heavier than a Jeep but lighter than a Patrol so they may or may not work successfully. My Ridepros have been flogged pretty hard and still work like new.

7inch lift? 8O
If your guards are touching the tyres, dont be affraid, just trim them. There only metal panels.
As a rule, for every inch you go up, you have to become wider by 1.5 icnhes to keep the same stability, and for 7 inches in height the car become ridiculsly wide.
Lower lift = better COG = More stability to decrease the chance of a roll over to crush those precious panels!
What size tyres do you want to run?
For spring rates look at outerlimits 4x4, in the FAQ.
Also look at Discoweb for tyre sizes, lift combininations etc.
Best mod would be 2inch springs, 50mm turret spaces and 80 series LC shocks for the front with Holey bushes in the radius arms.
Heaps of travel for this setup.

I have a series1 Disco with a 2"lift and 245/75/16 Coopers and they fowl the rear guards ( thanks opposite lock ) but a small trim of the rear lip seems to have fixed it.
I want to go 3'' to 4'' suspension, and 2''
body. with the 31 10.5 r15's on only the rear guards i
had to cut. also the rims i run are the series landy sunraisers
with a different offset.
std disco rims give me 1500mm front track,
and the 15'' rims give me 1640mm front track.
so as the RTA would say, thoes rims arnt up to scratch son!!!!
but they work well.
I was considering a body lift , any idea of costs ?
when it comes to costs, what they ask for toy and niss
lift kits are OVERPRICED to the max.
im going to make the spacers myself ect ect.
long bolts, move brake lines, radiator, ect
I am not that talented, hense I would like to know the cost?
dont know about landrover ones,
80series are $350 just for the bolts and blocks!
thats 10 of each about same for landrover???
so there is no way 10 x 2''dia by 2'' tall alluminum blocks and 10
HT bolts are worth that!
check state transport rules!
QLD no body lift is leagal unless steel blocks are used and
u r limmited to 2''. then you have to get a mod plate.
