Hub nut spanner

One of these should be easy to get, but so far the closest I have found was 2mm too large, and would have cost $55 8O

yes, 4wd's has some, as does BOR probably, but shouldn't a local store have something????

If your that way inclined, you can make your own.

My father used a large washer that just fitted inside the hub - he ground/filed out the hex shape and welded a handle to it ( bent 90deg at the end to allow the washer to go inside the hub).

If ( like me ) you can't find a washer to fit, cut 6 bits of small square section steel and weld them together to fit around the nut, grind to fit inside the hub - add handle.

    Or just buy one

i'd like to make one, but i'm not good enough at metalwork, and I don't have the time or equipment.

I like the 2nd option, buy one, but i'm struggling to find one :?

Four Wheel Drives have them for $7.00. Just call them, pay by credit card over the phone and have it airbagged up. For that sort of money it's not worth mucking around. When I lived in Kununurra I ordered 4 or 5 and sold them to the local Toyota Mechanics for $15ea. They fit Toyota & Jeep. Toyota wanted $50 for them about 15 years ago!!

Maybe you can recoup your costs by buying some for some Toyota or Jeep owners.

    Hub Spanner

Toyota cruiser ones will do the job, slightly bigger by a mm or two. I have used them without doing any damage to the nut. Handy if you have one , if you have to buy one get the right one.
