Thanks guys thinking of putting boost defender wheels on my 88. Don’t know if the tyres are going to be too tall 235/85. Will they will rub on inner guards?

245/70 gets my vote, had 215/85 on disco rims which are a good choice for the stock look.
Are the Boost alloys the same offset as the RRC wheels?
If they are 245.75x16 is the ideal size.
To be safe you have to trim the back door flange where it is curved down to the rubber and grind down the bolt at 12 oclock in the rear wheel arch .
I have seen 235x85x16s monster the inside of the outside of the rear of the back wheel arch on compression on a 2door which has bigger wheel arches than a 4door.

My 1988 on 235/85R16 rubber on 1954 Series 1 rims. It has ARB OME medium springs which give it about a 1” lift I think.
It was a good combo for my trip to the Arctic last summer. No rubbing or issues, but I did need to adjust the steering stops to avoid rubbing at full lock.
