Yes using studs and I asked about using two helicoils and was told it was not needed. The stud in the helicoiled hole does not feel as stable as the undamaged hole - anyway we will soon see later in the week.

If the helicoil does pull out I will get a 20mm long threaded insert (not a helicoil) installed in its place.

I have used copper spray with good success but if all is well you shouldn't need anything.

my ARP stud box came with "65lb for Rover V8's" hand written on it,, blew that gasket bloody quick!
BOR did the new engine up to "much nearer 100" and so far----;)
I suspect there are as many numbers as members here,, but would be interested in hearing a few,,,

The ARP instructions that came with the studs says three stage tightening to 100 ft lbs. So I am thinking 80-90 lbs.

The problem I have is too much information - many people on line say they have had problems but all the experts say 100 ft lbs will not cause damage.

Of course it all comes down to me - not enough torque and blown head gaskets, too much torque and it strips but at least I know I have an issue then and not when it is back in the car.

But then maybe I am worrying about nothing ;)
