Recovery Points 95 Defender

I must be different then. I have the standard Landrover Steel Winch bar on the front of mine, and there is two hooks mounted in the bullbar itself in line with the chassis rails. They have worked brilliantly from word go, and the amount of time I;ve been thankful that they are not located underneath is numerous

Worried a little at first about them being mounted to the bullbar, but had a look at the mounting of it. It is mounted via 3 HT bolts into each chassis rail, so I;m figuring that the day they give way I'm in a lot of trouble anyway!

whats wrong with using two of the huge eye bolts found on the front of trucks? have these fitted in the front of the bull bar with a steel plate behind to stop it pulling through the bar...any done this before?


and as for the crush tube in the chassis rails...i dont think the bolts went right through the chassis...only on one side of it which is why a tyre lever was reqiured to hold the nut from turning inside the chassis rail.

these hooks i am curious about the strength of them as a snatch recovery point.....towing point or winching point is ok.
but the sharp instant force of a snatch recovery makes me think it will snap the point off....again i have had no experience with these hooks.

You are correct the bolts did not go right through chassis rail hence the pain in the rear end in doing up the bolts.

I will have to have a closer look but I'm sure SWL of 10 000kg was stamped on the hooks.

By the condition off the tie down rings, the previous owner has done some recovery so I'm gueesing the hooks mounts to the chassis would at least be as good.
