Terrafirma Shockers - I fitted a set all round

I fitted a set of +2" Terrafirma shockers a couple of weeks ago to my D2 along with some King springs. Quite a few were using the TFs for a couple of years and praised them so I thought I would try them for myself.
They are quite a good shock and value for the money. Not made in China as someone said, but Taiwan. Bumps seem to be soaken up well and the ride is very comfortable. No rebound problems felt. All in all I was pretty impressed so far.

    New Shocks

I will need to replace all 4 shocks in the new year and will be looking for comfort. My new to me 2001 td5 will be used to tow a 5 meter caravan on both bitumen and dirt roads so corrugations will test them.
I can't afford the big name brands tho I'm sure there are good shocks in the moderate price bracket, but which one's to choose?
I'll put these on the list, thanks for your post.

    You mean Taiwan the R.O.C

Take them and get them hot on some rough tracks, you'll soon find they let you down.

I can't comment specifically on the Terrafirma shocks but Taiwan has for many years now been producing quality products across the board. Not to be confused with mainland China tho it too can produce very high quality products. If the specification for Terrafirma shocks is of a high standard, Taiwan is very capable in delivering just that. The problem that I and I'd guess most others too have is knowing what that specification is. The real test is always in the field and forums such as this is the best place for real world testing.
My reservation is the level of quality control but that applies to most any companies. Even the big named German manufacturers have been plagued with quality control issues.
Back to shocks, is there any feed back on KYB and Monroe? I was talking to Repco the other day and they can supply either. KYB are gas, Monroe are oil.
I have no idea on the pro's and con's of either. Anybody here that have experienced both?

Monroes current shock offering is pretty good...

Unless they have changed something very recently!

Are you talking from personal experience having them fitted to your vehicle or hearsay from a friend of a friend?
I can only say people who have them have told me they are quite good, hence I put on a set myself.
I took mine for a 500 km run the other day, mixture of high speed highway mountain windy roads 300kms and 200 kms of corrigated and rocky bush tracks and they performed pleasingly. I however did not go rock climbing Hard Core. So if Hard core is your game then maybe better shocks would fit the bill, but most people don't do hard core stuff.

I fitted a set of Monroe Sensa trac gas to my D2 before my lap of Australia from April to September this year.
This included the GRR and Mornington Wildlife Sanctuary, so over 1000Km of dirt , some quite rough.
This was also towing my camper trailer which I now find has an ATM of about 900-950Kg
They are still smiling with no seal leaks after about 30KK.
So I am very happy with them, particularly as they are unobtrusive ie not rough.

The only negative, and it is not the shock itself , is that with 2 inch King springs, the LH back tops out quite noisily on steep descents with no load on.
