All Australian LSEs had 3.9 as it wasn't worth emission certification of the 4.2 for the small volume coming to OZ.

AFAIK no but we were always about a year late. AFAIK though the Borg Warner came in 89 with the 3.9. In UK some late 3.5s had Borg Warner apparently. Must have run out of LT230s on that day.
I haven't looked closely , but I think the LT230 box at that time had the two position high low lever. Ie right unlocked left locked. The BW only has a little lever with no gate.
