Izuzu County stuff
Hi people,
I got the Isuzu supplement for the County from www.pitstop.net.au but it shows a spin on filter plus an extra oil cooler. The engine I’ve got looks like it’s a cartridge filter and no oil cooler. Does anyone know of any tricks to changing the oil for this motor? and the part number of the filter?
The manual also shows a different priming dohicky to the one I’ve got

Is the funny shaped knob in the centre of the photo the primer? and what do you do with it?
I had uploaded a photo, into the members photos page, of a lever on the fuel pump with the question what does it do, but my 13yo son saw it and said “that'll be the fuel shut off thing wont it!”. "Holy ****, your right" I said.
I had shown him the knob on the dash that you have to pull to shut off the engine, and the little smart arse put two and two together. I’ll buy that kid a beer one day .
So either the original solenoid has died (its still there wrapped up) or a PO wanted to be able to shut off the engine independent of the ignition switch, so ran a new (dodgy) cable to the lever. Any ideas on this one?
Also found the County is a bit taller than the Disco, so it stays outside for now.

TIA for any info.
Bruce.

Was yours factory fitted or fitted afterwards to replace a V8.
The reason I am asking is that my mate has an original factory isuzu county and one that was fitted aftermarket.
He has found that there are a few differences between the two.
I will give him a call tonight then get back to you.

Bruce,
Have sent you an email with document containing part numbers for filters/oils etc including oil filter replacement. Screw on filter are as fitted to all Army rovers but civilain/County versions had the standard upside down drop in cartridge type. I was told by local Landrover mech who owns County that the cartridge type is as used on Isuzu trucks and are probably a better filter system than the screw on type- just more fiddly to change. Cheers,

Thanks heaps Pullsy,
The PO gave me a ryco paper cartridge replacement. I want to make sure this was right for the engine before I go dropping the oil and using the wrong type of filter.
The supplement I got is probably for the Army 110's as it has the turbo bits included.
Thanks again guys.
Bruce.

Bruce,
Just about your fuel primer- it is the flowery shapped thing in the middle of your photo- of you run out of fuel and need to prime the fuel injector pump you grab the knob and turn it anti-clockwise to undo, loosen the screw head on its right and then pump away until fuel come out. tighten up screw head and push pump down and tight clockwise and you are primed and ready to go. THis is all from memory but it goes something like that- with the smarts your kid showed if I am wrong he should be able to work out what I got wrong. Cheers,
Pullsy

The lift pump also has a screen filter in the bottom, if you undo the inlet pipe banjo bolt under the pump, the filter is in the banjo bolt itself, it unscrews from the bolt. There's a few of these through out the fuel system, if thev'e never been changed they can become quite clogged.
