DEFENDER DRIVERS

After recently installing front & rear Maxidrives, I also worried about the strength of the standard trailing arms. I had some made up from 44mm solid bar, because that's what my mate had on hand (for free). They're fairly heavy, but no more than the front hockey sticks.

Here they are with some of the remains of the skinny original arms shown for comparison:

I elected to keep them straight and go with the LRA offset bushes to compensate for the lift. Here's the offset bushes compared to standard:

Hopefully they should do the job. If I bend these then I'm in real strife.

is there some where that stock piles this kind of thing as a standard?
can I use d2 trailing arms on the fender?
Defender200Tdi your set up looks impressive, how much does the angled bushes cost so i can compare that to the price of getting some bent bars,

Aloa can supply the HD links that he has.

The D2 radius arms wont fit a Defender. The designs are totally different at both the rear and front.

The offset bushes are available from Les Richmond Automotive www.lrautomotive.com.au for about $80 each. LRA also do laminated trailing arms (basically the originals that have been sleeved).

My trailing arms were free because we (mate & I) made them ourselves, and yes, 44mm solid bar is way overkill for the job, but it's what I could get for nuthin. Anything else I would have had to pay for, and I didn't much feel like running the bars down to something sensible (like say, 35mm) in the lathe.
