I curenty run:
rear std solid rotors $70.00 each. Britt parts Footsgray.
Front DBA slotted and vented $$90.00 each vic performence.

front pads ebc $180 set aprox.
rear pads ebc $160 set aprox.

Brake Pads 6) 6000 Series 4x4
A heavy duty version of the V4 Greenstuff formulation, this non-asbestos organic formulation is ideal for brake upgrades on SUV and light truck. Being a high temperature stable material, 6000 series offers superb stopping power under brake load such as towing or conditions of high brake load.

the guy at ebc Richard drives a RR will track down his number
I think it was vic performence

I have also replaced all flex lines with braided S/steel.

Brake pads shim

Go to ABs, AutoBrake Service and get a packet of anti squeal shim. This is a self adhesive shim that fits to the back of the pad, normally works in most cases, it is much better that the red paste.

they should have a metal shim.....genuine landrover part as its a common problem.

the pads could already have a shim stuck to the back....you gotta make sure the pads are fitted in the correct direction.
the shim needs to be on the trailing end of the pad(the top on land rovers)

with the genuine part the 'D' cutout goes to the bottom( D for Down)

they dont always stop the squealing but they help.
to stop it do as i said earlier...it works.
ive done heaps of these....maybe half my apprenticeship stopping squealing

G'day Matt,

Have a similar problem with my Rangie since I had a collapsed wheel bearing. No-one could give me a proper explanation, so I bought some of that red stuff to put on the back of the pads, as the paper shims had disintegrated. Problem persisted.
Took pads out again and realised that were rubbing on the leading edge of the plate, and inside the slots where the locating pins go. Put red stuff inside the slots, and on the leading and trailing edges of the back plates (where shiny spots showed) and Bobs your uncle.

Have a gander at the plates when they are squealing badly, and look for shiny spots anywhere (not just where you expect).

Cheers,

8) i went to the top of the tree to find what could be done and was recommended to try mintex pads, got them from ricks four wheel drive and havn't had a squeal since.
and mine used to squeal - 'couldn't drive with the windows down.
