Where can we get wiring diagrams for a 1984 County?
Well work has slowed down but hasn't stopped.
It's down to the fiddly bits.
Modifications like this one to the cowling that fixes to the firewall:
The dash board was removed from the firewall (bulk head). That was a voyage of discovery. CJ hopes that I don't die before it goes back on as I will be the only one who will know how to do it. 8O
So the fire wall needs a bit of preparation and the painting will begin.
CJ was given this for his 50th: A belt grinder and a formidable and useful tool it is indeed. Pity most of the metal fabrication has been done. Useful for the next project though.

Aren't they in the owner's handbook?
If you don't have that, I do and can copy them for you. Somethings e.g., rear wash/wiper aren't in the handbook but I've drawn them out.

Thanks Ron...the County came without. The dismantled result is a tangled web of intrigue and confusion.Originally posted by p38arover

Did I mention the words "fiddly bits"?
We call it "Zen and the art of Land Rover restoration": it is not what you fix but you choose not to fix.
This is the challenge: Choose between pragmatism and idealism, compromise and perfection. There is always something to improve but we must remember that many of the things we wish to fix were forged by LR in "Solihell" in the first place.
The project is at the stage of preparation for a complete respray. It's hard to make that interesting ....it's just hard grind, sanding and filling.
With the silly season intervening, John's purchase of a Rangie, me helping a friend with bathroom renovations, John and I will regroup in a couple of weeks and get back into it.![]()

Nice metal work and welding!
Can you tell me how you are bending that sheet metal so neatly?
I've been looking to buy a 'brake' but a smallish one is around $1000 and a decent one is $3000. Is there any cheap alternative apart from marking up the steel and sending it out to get bent by a professional?
I had a look at a couple on e-bay for a few hundred dollars, but they look very light weight.
Will it be ready for the expo? Matt
