Group therapy eh ?
Admit ? It's common knowledge. Plenty of power is just nice to have and aides in my addiction to the sound of speed.

Which way do you shim the gear, back or forward ?
I noticed last time I had the transfer cover plate off there was maybe 12 thou of movement but thought the noise was bearings.
Hi Jay
I have done both.Although whilst the transfercase is in the vehicle its only practical to put the shim in the back as you cant get the shim to stay in position at the front whilst you assemble.
I just had a quick look in a Haynes manual, they say,0.004to0.008in(0.1to0.2mm) of endfloat.Shims are available in steps of 0.01in(0.25mm),bronze side goes toward the gear.

Thanks Andrew
When I get a few hours over the next couple of weeks I 'll see whether that adjustment reduces the noise or it is the bearings. Shouldn't be 'cos they were replaced 2.5yrs ago when I overhauled the whole lot but crook new stuff turns up with annoying frequency and you only need one of them to make noise to be no further ahead.
Its' funny how you put up with problems until something prompts you to do something about it.
Hi Jay
I will let you know how mine goes, will probably do it next weekend.Im thinking of going up a grade from EP90(in thickness) of oil in the transfercase and gearbox, mainly due to the heat from longer trips and the extra HP fron the 202.What do you think????
