    Hi
Thanks for all the good advise!!!!!
I think I will fit a temperature probe and measure the actual water temp and see what it is.
Will see and let you now of the results and what solution I have chosen

Happy 4 x 4 see ya in the bush

    Exactly what landy-man said!!!

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'>having the radiator flushed will not get the same result as getting it properly rodded... this is done by removing the tanks and actually clearing the core out...
been through all this with my rangie and eventually went with a h/d core... this has seemed to fix it..
The original core was full of cr@p and was pretty bloked up..
Dont waste your time with thermo fans etc... as said, it is just masking the problem...
a Rover V8 should be able to run all day without getting hot...
Replace your thermostat first...(cheapest).. put the highest % glycol coolant you can find in there...
If this does not fix it... I would recommend talking to a rad bloke.. either rod it or recore...
Buying used radiator is no guarentee it will be much better than the existing[/b][/quote]

i gave up trying to rod out my core, cost me $220 for
a slightly large core. the rest i did my self. buggered if i was going
to pay someone an extra $300 just to solder the tanks of then on??

Get a lower temp thermostat. This will slove the problem for not alot of money at all.

cant see the point really if thermostat is only opening up a few degrees earlier, once coolant gets hot, it is hot... in my opinion, you can take the thermostat out and it wont make difference.

    I second that.
ive run cars with and with out, once its hot its hot simple as that.
no thermostat just negates that it will take longer to heat up the water
system. because there is no valve(thermostat) to stop the water circulating.

if theres a blockage in the radiator this causes back pressure, this will slow up water flow, in turn making the already hot water hotter.

just bite the bullet, sell your mother and fix it properly. otherwise
it will bite you in the bum!

    from past experiances.

His mother will make bullets bite his bum for selling her anyway. Mother in law would be a better choice for hocking not that he get much for one.

You can do the work yourself with soldering with radiators and like. Just need an oxy and good wad of solder sticks. $300 would get you a good oxt set, bottles you just swap at CIG.

Kaistuff: My 93 Disco V8 did Ballina Sydney Ballina in two days ambient temp was high thirties to low forties when I got home. Ran down there fast with the aircon on flat out all the way and the needle never went over half way. (And at 23mpg).

Recently I had overheating probs, all were due to hoses (tiny leaks) and the thermostat; all replaced, no probs. Either you're getting a bad reading or the rad needs a good flush or refit.

    Cheers, GQ

should not run a V8 with out a thermostat.
you could even find you one is nackered and not opening a wide as it should.
Belive me if you put a lower temp one in it will run cooler.

The other way to make it run cooler is to run it on 100% anti freeze. V8 loves this and run really well on it
