    Timing cover leaking water.

    Hi all.
First time here, didn't know this site existed.
I've just become a RR owner (better late than never) I've I've been delt with a problem right off the bat.

I have an 92 Range Rover vogue and I noticed that it wat leaking water from the outlet at the back of the water pump (timing cover). It appears that there is some kind of welch plug in there. I haven't pulled it down yet but I'm just about to.
So the question is, is it ok to completely block it off? If so, what are some alternatives other than having to take off the timing cover and weld it?

    Would greatly appreciate any ideas.
Spent the last couple of days brousing the site and it's pretty awesome.
I hope I've posted this in the right section.

    Thanks
    Greg

    Gday Greg and welcome,

If you mean the spare water hose nipple behind the pump that points at the inlet manifold, then I suggest you get a rubber cap and hose clamp and fit it over the nipple. Old Holdens used to use these caps on their thermostat housings so they shouldn't be too hard to get at a parts store.

    Bee your a genius.
I had it in my head that it was cone shaped and not be able the clamp anything on there.
I was told that those timing covers were use on earlier models and they blocked them off on the later ones.
Hahaha, I love this place even more now. I was just about to take off the water pump

Thanks a million Bee Utey, I owe u a beer.
