Dealer lieing about selecting Low Range on Disco2?

Yes get out and use it!!!
dont be like ALL the toymotors and ****ans i passed today,
all decked out in every bit of arb ect gear and not a scratch on
any of em!

at least my dints arnt from shopping trolleys!!!!

When I turned up he was a step ahead as he must have realised the stupidity of the advice he had received, and passed on, and the problem was rectified before I got there. It is still stiff but does get in there, and works easily when rolling slowly. It seems to be getting less stiff with more use. I will have to find out how to lubricate it myself when I speak to the mechanic about setting up the centre difflock, which I think is installed in these models but with no mechanism for activating them.

The transfer case is a non-syncro gearbox, so if it wont go into gear while stationary ie wont mesh, you will need to re-spin the input ( put auto in drive then neutral with t'fer in neutral) before trying again. The best method is to change on the move < than 8kph.

When my Disco2 was new I couldn't even get the transfer lever to move at all while the truck was stationary. It had to wear in. IMHO the way to do it properly is to have the auto in neutral, the truck rolling slowly (just moving) and move the transfer lever between high and low. It never gives dramas doing it this way.

I bought my D2 from Austral too. Mine was brand new. Even after 130,000 Km, the transfer lever is still stiff to move between H-N-L and is much simpler to do when rolling with the (as the indicator plate infront of the transfer lever shows) the auto must be in N. When stopped, sometimes the teeth on the gears don't quite line up and you won't be able to shift from N to L.
