    Td5 belt squeak

I guys have replaced my serpentine belt and harmonic balancer recently and now find when putting the foot down I get belt squeak from about 2500 rpm and upwards. Belt tension appears ok but I'm sure it must be slipping any suggestions ?

Get some belt grip in a pressure pack and spray on it. That should stop it.

The sound is most likely a leaking exhaust manifold gasket. The gasket only leaks under high load in the early stages whereas the belt has no reason to start making noises as the engine starts to work hard. If the squeak occurs at idle then suspect the belt idler pulley is seizing causing the belt to slip at low speed, but it will soon get destroyed at higher revs.

Thanks Graeme did find a manifold bolt snapped off and a leaking gasket you were on the money thanks for your advice. Now the painful part to remove the bolt👎

Hi guys update on the squeak. Wasn't the belt it was a squeaky tensioner. So I lived it with some inox to see if this helped and by some awesome chance the squeak is more prominent than ever and now my alternator has stopped charging. Not having much luck. Any one know why the alternator may have stopped ? Looks like it's an expensive replacement. I have checked voltage output and it's around 11.2v and checked all connections and the standard brake light fuse. And suggestions appreciated.
