    Disco 2 Q's

Hi, looking to buy an auto TD5 D2. I've been looking around the web and a couple things I'd like to know. I understand that the D2 cdl can be fairly easily reconnected on the t-cases starting with either 41D or 42D. Does anybody know what years these were fitted? Also, I will be looking to chip the engine. As I understand it some of the autos can take more power than others. I read that the 2A chassis range can handle more while the 1A chassis range can't. Same as above, anybody know what years had which chassis range?

    Thanks,
    dirtydisco2

    Hi DirtyDisco2,

If you do a search on here for CDL you'll find that ther have been plenty of threads on here about disco centre diff locks here are a couple of the better ones:

    http://www.aulro.com/modules.php?name=Foru...0&highlight=cdl

I got all sorts of conflicting info regarding which years..... I am not sure it's that simple... I have a 2000 model... I have the CDL in the box... just no actuator.... probably best to learn where it is ... top of the transfer case... and climb under and feel if the car you are looking at has it...

That's probably the only way to be sure. I was told by a mechanic at one of the crowds that sells aftermarket diff locks once "that "you get to 2000 - 2002 it's a bit of a lottery - some do some dont!".... but I am yet to see one that doesn't!

The 2A Chassis... vs the 1A chassis..... no idea - sure that's a disco and not a series Landie?

Maybe one of the more technical guys can shed some light on that one..

    Hope that helps...

Thanks guys, yeah I've been scouring the forums to learn how to reconnect the cdl and had sort of hoped that I could tell just by the yaer if it was a suitable candidate but it appears the only way to be sure is to get under there and feel for myself.

As to the chassis range, it was something I read on another forum may have been Outerlimits? Talked to Bruce Davis and he said I can do an upgrade on them all but the later the model the better as changes have been made and the early ones ones only cope with a mild boost without sending it into limp mode while the later ones can handle more power.

Looking like a 2001 model should give me an easy cdl hookup and cope with a bigger power boost.
