Back in '96 we secured the deck with some rubber tie down things and wedges, which didn't work at all well. That's why I want to do something very different this time.
Why not screw or rivet some galvanised angle to the cappings. Then you just need some cross bracing on your ply to make it stiff enough.

Something like this may do the job.
GN 113.5 Ball lock pins, Stainless Steel 1.4305 | OTTO GANTER
They may not be cheap though.
If you want some pins turned up or some bolts drilled give us a yell.

    Cheers,
    Mick.

That's basically the plan, although the support angle will need to be extended across the space occupied by the rear doors. I'll bolt the supports to the floor.

Thanks Mick - I might take you up on getting some bolts drilled. Every time I try to do something like that I end up with a lot of broken drill bits and losing a fair bit of blood.
