Removing scratches?

G'day all,

Time has come to polish out those nasty scratches that's been accumulating on the sides of Greylandy. Yes I know .. defenders should have scratches .. but believe me there is enough that will never come out.
(I won't tolerate any comments about going soft  )

So would like to hear any do's and don'ts, recommended products, offers to do it for me!

TIA..

Henry.

Re: Removing scratches?

Sympol works on some scratches but more for a quick polish, good on glass and plastics too.

Meguiars Mirror Glaze stuff too is okay either no1 or no2 depending on whether you have a rotary buffer or not.

Mothers I've found to work best for me. Either Resin Polish alone or Paint Renovator then with the Resin Polish.

I've heard to keep well clear of "NuFinish" type products as they damage more than they repair, maybe they work dunno.

I'd try the Mothers stuff then try converting scratches to dents.

Hi Henry, i would ask a panel beater or someone in the know, i know you have to be carefull when using cut and polish products on metallic paint. I have never onwed a car with metallic paint so i cant recommend any products, but give a paint specialist a call. Matt

I personally would use Meguires fine cut on a buffer pad (at low speed on a buff, not a powerdrill 8O ) or by hand. I would then work up through gold class swirl remover, and then wax There are plenty of other products to do this, but this is what I have

Removing scratches

Hey ther,
A very good friend of mine ( who happens to own a spare parts store as well as being a great landy fan and mechanic) was telling me the other day that he used something called a 'Clay Block' to bring his Disco up like new for trade in. Easy to use he said and wow... the paint looked like it just glowed in the dark! It removes all sorts of imperfections... even over spray etc... give Mal a call (03)9434 2823 he's a really nice bloke and I'm sure will help if he can.

I've been using a 3M product ... I think it's called Fill and Glase. It's for hand polishing... but does a pretty good job covering the scratches in the clear coat of a metalic..

Come up nice.... just too much like hard work working over the whole car by hand... :x

Hi

T-cut Colour matched to your paint works really well.
